One of the highly acclaimed character actress, a veteran Kishori Ballal with strong base of theatre hailing from Mangaluru passed away on Tuesday due to age old complications in health.
Kishori Ballal when young was in the camp of Dr Shivarama Karanth. She learnt Bharatanatyam, married Sripathi Ballal and moved to Mumbai. Her husband late Sripathi Ballal was also in to theatre and both performed on stage in plays like Enna Muddina Muddanna, Himachalada Hinde, Devara Kannu, Innilladavaru and others.
In the camp of RD Kamath, Kishori Ballal directed plans. She stepped in to cinema from GV Iyer cinema ‘Kudure Motte’. She has acted in over 75 plus films in Kannada, Tulu, Hindi language films. She starred in ‘Swadesh’ with Shahrukh Khan.
In films like Maisoora Mallige, Hoovu Hannu, Muththina Hara, Jeevanadi, Mahakshatriya, Simhadri, Kahi,Naani, Ring Road, Ayya, Kempe Gowda, Nammanna, Galaate performance of Kishori Ballal is impeccable. She was winner of Sri Sahitya Samrajya Mandali ‘Lakshmi Bai award’.
