The lovely star Premkumar, popularly known as Nenapirali Prem recalled his 19 years of journey at his 25th film ‘Premam Poojyam’ teaser launch. Like how he got first time director and writer Rathnaja for ‘Nenapirali’, he has got a first time director, writer and music director Dr BS Raghavendra a famous neurosurgeon doing wonders for him. For Nenapirali although Rathnaja was a trump card but the boss was Hamsalekha as all the songs did wonders.
Prem recalled his ‘Novu, Nalivu, etc at his carefully thought out speech. I had no godfather but six and half crores Kannadigas gave me a break. I had on any time to fall in with my fans – even when my films lost the fans did not let me down. The media has been so cooperative throughout its journey of 19 years. Even today at midnight when I call 500 to 1000 fans to come to my home.
At one point of time I used to watch 180 films released in a year. I was like an encyclopedia. When my career commenced my admiration to Kannada made me announce no remake films. It is only three years of sitting home. I took up only one remake film in 25 films.
Prem drawing his attention to this ‘Premam Poojyam’ says he heard 84 script to fit the 25th film. Mr Madhava came up with his contact and introduced me to Dr BS Raghavendra, a neurosurgeon by profession. That is ‘Premam Poojyam’, he narrated the script and discussion for 14 hours. He is a miracle man. Not only director, Dr Raghavendra had done music, lyrics and screenplay for the film. He projected with ‘Shringara to get Bangara’ out of ‘PP’. I feel our cameraman Naveen Kumar should pocket an Oscar award. He is so brilliant.
When we were in Vietnam on an 18 hours journey, I wanted to have makeup. But cameraman Naveen Kumar told me to have confidence in his work. When I saw the results of his work, I was stunned.
I have a strong hope that this film will reach a next level. Prem had some more to express but time constraint tied him down.
Anyhow we wish another ‘Nenapirali’ for the lovely star Premkumar from ‘Premam Poojyam’ – he has literally done ‘Pooje’ in his profession.
