ILLEGAL FILM SCREENING KFPA UPSET
Posted date: 10 Fri, Jul 2020 – 01:34:32 PM

The illegal screening of films – in parts and full after it is given to TV channels as rights is now found in different places.  For this illegal practice the court has also put a stay.

The KFPA with this court order to safeguard the interest of the producers addressed the media and urged for stopping of such practice.

The scenes, songs and bits are utilized in different places by the rights holder of a particular film.  The rights are given only for screening of the films but not to cut it in pieces and use. The channels make money from such sourcing from the TV rights films. They do not pay anything for the producers.

DK Praveen Kumar (Ramakrishna) addressing the media on Thursday evening said over 1000 producers have complained on this illegal practice. It is high time such practices are controlled.

We in Karnataka have made it clear for the first time in using a film in pieces. The adjacent language film industries have also supported on this issue. They are also giving a thought to put an end to such practices says KFPA President Praveen Kumar.

Off late films are seen in social media. This is absolutely wrong procedure. A producer invests crores of rupees. Showing films in all social formats without permission is a wrong step. Other than producers are making money from the contents.

KFPA in this direction has written letters to 35 associations with the Court order stated legal expert Dhananjay present at the media briefing.

Senior director SV Rajendra Singh Babu, BR Keshava, A Ganesh, NM Suresh, Avinash Shetty and others were present at the media briefing.
