This is a film that the youths should watch and get to know the historical developments. It is Saikumar and Hamsalekha who shine brilliantly in acting and music respectively.


Saikumar the dialogue king has balanced the role so well that he deserves an award at the national or state level. Hamsalekha giving a very fine treatment to the Vachanas has lifted the film to one of the top musical films. The songs that is Vachanas in the meeting of Sri Basaveshwara, Allama Prabhu, Akka Mahadevi, Channa Basavanna and Machideva is very captured by director Nandikameshwara Reddy.

The youths should know the valiance of Machideva. It is described with the Vachana Sahitya and the absorbing moments in the life of Machideva deserves kudos.


This is 138 minutes and 45 seconds historical cinema dates back to the 12th century zamana of Sri Basaveshwara. The main focus is on the Vachana Sahitya protection and Saharanas safety.


The brilliance of the director is in sketching the life of Machideva. It is Veerabhadra facing curse is advised by Lord Shiva (played by Vinod Alva, Parvathi is Yamuna) to serve the innocent Sharanas on earth. Veerabhadra takes birth in Bhuloka and that is Machideva for you. He is given very good attention and learnt the art of valiance.


As the instructions from Lord Shiva is towards ‘Paramartha’ life Machideva moves to Mahamane, the house of Sri Basaveshwara. At this place he becomes a darling of legendary personalities like Sri Basaveshwara, Akka Mahadevi, Allamaprabhu, Channa Basavanna and above all Bijjala King.

Internal squabbles in the kingdom of Bijjala disappoint Sri Basaveshwara and he moves to Koodalasangama for stay. Around this time the mentor of Machideva falls sick in his home town. In the absence of Machideva in the kingdom of Bijjala untoward incidents take place. On his return Machideva uses his brilliance and ‘Veerathatwa’ to dislodge the bad elements. How he saves the ‘Bhandara’ of Vachana Sahitya is very interesting portion of the film.


It is Saikumar all the way. He is so good in the role of Veera Mahadeva Machideva’ – one could say it is lifetime best performance. Saikumar has controlled his superb dialogue delivery style. His emotions in the eyes are very good. Srinivasaprabhu as Allama Prabhu, Vijayakashi as Sri Basaveshwara, BC Patil as Bijjala King, Ramesh Bhat and Suchitra as parents of Machideva have given very good support.

For every 10 minutes Hamsalekha the pride of our country haunts with melody. He makes the film to watch from his music sense.


Cinematography is another superb task of this film. The art direction, dialect used, action portions are much high in standards.
