Director Sridharshan with plenty of experience has managed to give a convincing mythological and historical ‘Mahakavya’. The brilliant effort is possible because of his wide knowledge theatre that too playing mythological roles and directing it.
In the days of action and thriller based films rocking, here is a film that is much watch by this generation to know more about the past. There is nothing without the past. This type of film is like finding water in oasis.
It has been six and half years effort of Sridarshan and his role of Duryodhana in the film is the main highlight. He has written story, screenplay and done direction of the film.
There is reference of 10th century Kannada literature, glorious sets, good costumes, pleasant songs etc. The Halagannada 39 short poems are part of this film. The Pampa’s ‘Shanthinatha Purana’, Ranna’s ‘Gadayudda’ and Ponna ‘Shakthi Purana parts are packed in this film.
Veteran Kanagal Prabhakara Shastri son Purushottam Kanagal is major lift for the film. Manoranjan Prabhakar music, Muthuraj cinematography, Suresh Urs editing are on top gear.
The short poems are in Sanskrit but the dialogue is wonderful in this film. Ravi Bhat as Pampa, Ramakrishna as Ranna and Kanagal Prabhakar as Ponna, Srivijaya Vallabha Soori, Bahubali minister is Ganesh Rao, Shanthi Gowda as wife of Bahubali, Anantha Velu as Drutharashtra, Asha nagesh, Lakshmi Bhat, Girish, Aravind, Cheluvaraj, Pradeep given good support in their roles.
Vijay S producer of the film has given all required things for making of this film. This kind of film deserves audience. It is an extraordinary effort from Sridarshan.
