The sitting President of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Suneel Puranik with great and valuable support from Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa son BY Vijayendra has been able to address the woes of 15000 cinema industry persons who are directly and indirectly concerned.
The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy Chief Suneel Puranik first met BY Vijayendra and addressed on the difficulty faced at the lock down period by Kannada cinema industry. He was accompanied by KFCC President DR Jairaj and noted producer Rockline Venkatesh.
Soon after explaining the deep difficulty of 15000 cinema related people situation BY Vijayendra arranged for a meeting with his father the current chief minister BS Yediyurappa. Suneel Puranik sought magnificent support from BY Vijayendra when he conducted the 12th Bengaluru international film festival held in last February 2020.
At the meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa the outcome is support to 6000 persons in the first batch was announced. Like how a loyal father in the house stand behind the crisis of a house, our honorable chief minister stood like father of the Kannada cinema industry to help in the difficult times.
How the support will be extended? Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy cannot give financial support. It is ruled out like how the KFCC made declaration recently to give from ‘Kalyana Nidhi’. KCA also has Rs.10 crores in its kitty but interested generated from it will be used for the medical purposes of the cinema industry persons. In the last five years 15 cinema related persons got the medical aid. In the very short period of Suneel Puranki as head of KCA he was able to help 11 persons of the cinema industry that is worth nearly Rs.7 lakhs.
Now the issue is distribution of aid to the cinema industry – Recently the Reliance Foundation released Rs.2 crores to the cinema industry to face the crisis period. The reliance industry coupons will be available to the 6000 cinema industry personalities. On an average it will be Rs.5000 worth of goods one can buy from Reliance outlets.
This is very clear says Suneel Puranik who is struggling for a few days to help in a drastic way to the needy people. Meanwhile he heard the voices that demanded cash to meet the expenses at this Lock Down situation. As of now it is not possible to take up such calls says Suneel Puranik.
