As the unlock 1 is in progress from 8th of June, the mood here is that the film industry may get a nod for shooting and screening from 15th of June. It is a guess. The central government has to give the nod as the Corona 19 virus is still rampant. Meanwhile All India Producers Council has given a statement on how the theatres would function once the lockdown is lifted.
Hoping that 15th of June will be a big relief for the cinema industry; the grave need is for the exhibitors. They want big films so that the rush of audiences will be good to maintain the initial days of reopening. The regional censor board has started functioning giving one film censor certificate a day. They have promised to watch two Kannada films a day to clear the pile up of work.
There are nearly 650 single screens and a few hundred plus multiplex screens in Karnataka. The lack of good and big Kannada films at this hour of crisis obviously accommodates other language films.
When one takes a look at the present scenario – challenging star Darshan ‘Robert’ and Dhuniya Vijay debut direction and lead role film ‘Salaga’ are the only two films ready to hit the silver screens.
There are nearly 50 plus other medium scale Kannada films. The dubbed films are also in the queue. The art and experiment films cannot bring in audience at this moment. The films of V Ravichandran, Shivarajakumar, Kichcha Sudeep, Puneeth Rajakumar, Dhruva Sarja, Ganesh, Upendra – take a few months of time to release. Immediately they are not ready.
The KFCC has promised that the films released on 12th and 13th March that were stopped just after one or two days – six films would get first preference when the reopening happens.
