What is Choori Katte – it is a border place in Shivamogga and Uttar Kannada. For carrying of goods in the British rule by train the tax was supposed to pay. The officials were not paying the tax and that incurred losses to the government. There was a circle with a ‘Katte’ in that locality. To fight out the crooks around this Katte, a knife (Choori) was utilized for protection. The area became popular as ‘Choori Katte’.
