The most mellifluous singer of South India S Janaki has bid adieu to public singing at a very touching musical evening at city of Palaces Mysuru. It is from this place S Janaki started her career six decades ago.
The Mysuru University open air auditorium received massive attendance on last Saturday to attend the musical evening of S Janaki. It was a joint event with S Janaki Charitable Trust and Mysuru University Manasa Gangotri.
When I was just 10 years started singing and at the age of 14 rendered music program at Mysuru. I have travelled happily in my singing career with various languages and formats of singing. I would not sing further. This is my last singing program. With lot of difficulty she expressed this adieu.
S Janaki rendered so many songs written by literary giants and composers. In 1952 I was at this place Mysuru with GK Venkatesh and PB Srinivos. It was in a circle where four roads joined in those days. Starting from that place it continued for sixty years in singing.
The songs like Poojisalende Hoogala Tande…. Indu Enage Govinda Ninnaya Paadaravindava…Aaseya Bhaava… Nee Yaaro Eno Sakha…. Kangalu Vandane Helide…films hits, devotional and classical songs was a treat to the music lovers.
Veteran actors of Kannada cinema Protima Devi, Dr Rajesh, Harini, Dr Jayathi, Dr BharathiVishnuvardhana, Hema Chaudhary, Shivaramanna, music composer Rajan, Anirudh, Sharan, MP CS Puttaraju, politicians GT Deve Gowda, MLC KT Srikante Gowda and others were present.
Royal Family Smt Pramoda Deve Wodeyar felicitated the legendary singer S Janaki who rendered over 50000 songs in her career.
