One of the finest journalists of Karnataka with profound knowledge on various topics starting her career from English journalism Gauri Lankesh – heading Lankesh Patrike the legacy of her illustrious father – was shot dead on Tuesday night when she was standing in front of the gate of her residence in Raja Rajeshwari Nagar.
Three unidentified shot seven rounds and three entered Gauri Lankesh body. She died on the spot. It is learnt the two who shot at Gauri Lankesh followed her car and they were on Honda Activa vehicle. It is told one more person was moving around the locality.

Gauri Lankesh hailing from Shivamogga district grown up in Bengaluru with a graduation in Arts moved to New Delhi to pursue journalism. After masters degree she was a correspondent from France and USA. In the journalism field for over 25 years Gauri Lankesh took over ‘Lankesh Patrike’ – Kannada journalism. She was also head of ‘Guide’ publishing house. She has translated the works English, French and Hindi. She is also author of review collection of ‘Aavarana’ of Dr SL Byrappa.
Gauri Lankesh ‘Kandahaage’ was a strong column that had raised eyebrows. She is a thinker, social activist and supported the movement of Naxals.
Like her father P Lankesh the observations were very strong and it always looked at the down trodden in the society. She did not pick up film field like her father, P Lankesh eminent director, talented director Sister Kavitha Lankesh and brother Indrajith Lankesh.
