Four years of existence near Nelamangala – precisely Chikkamaranahalli 7.5 acres land is owned by G N Ramesh and on this plot eminent art director of Kannada cinema has built a mammoth set for ‘Johny Johny Yes Papa’.
The set is glorious Papa! Mohan B Kere has not constructed such mammoth studio so far in the four years and nearly100 Kannada films shooting has been held so far.
For Johny Johny Yes Papa – there is a Ganesha temple street, Muslim colony with mosque, Christian colony with a church, several streets, a huge police station, two houses – one of heroine and the other one of lead actors Dhuniya Vijay and Rangayana Raghu. Every day nearly 200 people work here and they are inmates of the colony till the shooting is complete. 90 percent of shooting is planned here by director of high reputation Preetham Gubbi. He has already shot two songs – for Hosa Padmavathi song featuring the most beautiful Rachita Ram – five sets have been changed, in another song Rangayana Raghu and Dhuniya Vijay come up in eight costumes for the song.
The most happening art director in a month brining lorry loads of lights, properties, nails, wood etc has built up the lovely looking sets – you have a water park. Ducks are seen at the shooting spot.
Mohan B Kere spent Rs.40 lakhs for a set in Mysuru for ‘Johny Mere Naam…Preethi Mere Kaam’, for this sequel type of cinema ‘Johny Johny Yes Papa’ he has incurred Rs.1.5 crore for two and half months and 100 people on work.
The owner of 7.5 acres land G N Ramesh a good friend of Mohan B Kere says the studio is not very well utilized by the Kannada cinema industry. There are quite a few cheques not cleared also. Another good attempt of 50 feet height, 100 feet and 150 feet area floor has come up recently at this GNR Cine City. This huge floor is not seen in AVM Studio or Abbai Naidu Studio. At this lovely floor Mohan B Kere has erected a wonderful set. Kiran Govi was shooting a song with Prashanth (Orata I Love You) as hero.
The only appeal of GN Ramesh is that the film industry should make use of it so that he would be able to bring in some more magic on this studio floors.
According to director Preetham Gubbi the set is also character in the film. For Rangayana Raghu working the whole film in one set with several outlooks is nothing but preparing for stage plays. We can keep cool and work very well for the film. It is like all unit members, technicians and artists staying together.
We remember what Dr Parvathamma Rajakumar used to say – When the film shooting has come to roads, the magic of it is known to people. The film loses attraction she felt. She preferred indoor shoot for the films.
That is what happening exactly for this ‘Johny Johny Yes Paapa’.
