Nature is the best teacher what we have heard from a long time. Look at the ‘Banada Neralu’ (played by Jayasri) Kannada cinema that so beautifully identified the importance of a tree. When such a beautiful god given nature is attacked by vested interests, persons like ‘Kadamban’ rise up.
We have five hundred people encroaching later, We have at least 100 to stop you people says Kadamban is a worth watching cinema because of various startling elements in the film. The hard work is seen in every frame of this film.
The presence of debutant actor Yathiraj as cop and dubbing his voice for his first film is something notable. Yathiraj as range officer has give a performance in good range. His fierce looks, ease at performance and strong approach is sure to bring him many more offers. Another Kannada actor going to Tamil and proving his mettle is a big gain for Yathiraj.
What is Kadamban? Director Raghavan of ‘Manja Pai’ has made attack on the hungry corporate that fights tooth and nail for acquiring ‘Kadambavana’ that is lived by 100 plus people. The reason for this battle is that the particular place is rich in taking out alkaline metals.
The dare devil Kadamban (Arya) a tribal living in this dense forest has a fiancé Radhi (Catherine) and protector of his people and forest wealth. Mahendra and his brother try to deceive the people to evict them from this place. Kadamban has faction in his gang. Yet he wins over the brutalities from his own means and strength.
Arya has a macho physical strength to take on any adversities is very good in his role. Deepraj Rana has many build up to the role but buried by the tribal people in the end. Catherine looks very sweet.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has done pretty good job, S. R Sathiskumar’s cinematography is excellent in capturing the dense forest from close to top angles.
The director concern for nature is admirable. Arya as hero continues to pick different concept. The film to some extent reminds us of Kannada cinema ‘Mathad Mathad Mallige’ starring Dr Vishnuvardhana and Suhasini Manirathnam.
