Title – Mada Maththu Manasi, Producer – Mano Murthy, Direction – Satish Pradhan, Music – Mano Murthy, Camera – KS Chandrasekhar, Cast – Prajwal Devaraj, Shruthi Hariharan, Shobaraj, Bullet Prakash, Vanishri, Pawan, Shruthi Nayak, Niranjan, Yathiraj and others.
The reason behind writing this headline is because of the climax. It does not happen in the routine fashion. For so much of care and affection it is finally ‘Mosa’ for Maada. Yet the lovely looking Manasi is memorable through her variety of performance.
This second half commendable director Satish Pradhan is a male biter it seems. In his previous film also he was woman centric (Thippajji Circle) and in this film ‘Madha Mathu Manasi’ his dilly dallying is prolonging but attention gets on top order in the second half. What is that ink pen he has given to heroine Shruthi Hariharan to write a letter when she was blind and our hero reads in lashing rain! Satish Pradhan has been negligent in some other cases yet his ability to capture attention is not questionable.
Another area he could have been strong is the characterisation he builds for Shobaraj. This character strength falls like pack of card when Manasi announces to Mada that she is already in love with another person. It is the love marriage that is taken to task by Manasi father Shobaraj. Then why drama when Mada comes to wish Manasi! The Mico Nagaraj character that forecast that Mada would join his lover also goes wrong.
Manasi a dancer is attracted by Mada, it is Mada who saves the grace of Manasi in a few occasions and he is in love dancing and remembering her quite often. In the travel of Mada and Manasi, the striking point is when Manasi says she wants her to reunite with her earlier boy friend. Mada does it but in the process a few developments take place.
The love and hate relationship finally ends in railway station. The case of climax scene in Moonram Pirrai strikes to your mind.
Prajwal as usual looks good and emoted quite well. It is Shruthi Hariharan gets complete control over her role and exhibit with prowess. There is variety of ‘Navarasas’ Shruthi Hariharan has got in this film and wins it with chilling performance. Had the dubbing done by her, it would have further given more marks to her.
Rangayana Raghu episode could have been cut short. Mano Murthy magic has not worked so well. He has given two lovely tunes.
KS Chandrasekhar in his camera has given lovely mood to the film. The top angle shots, Challakudy falls, outdoor locations are extremely good in his craftsmanship.
‘Mada Mathu Manasi’ – memorable, meaningful and matchless at places.
Score – 4/5 ****
