Posted date: 29 Sat, Oct 2016 08:34:44 AM

Title – Mukunda Murari, Producer – MN Kumar, Direction – Nandakishor, Music – Arjun Janya, Cinematography – Sudhakar S Raj, Cast – Upendra, Sudeep, Nikita Tukral, Ravishanker, Avinash, Tabla Nani, Devaraj, Prakash Belawadi, Bullet Prakash, Sidlingu Sridhar, Rachita Ram, Bhavana, Ninasam Satish (guest appearance) and others.

Here is a best dialogue oriented film from Real star Upendra after ‘Buddivantha’ and the class looks of Sudeep as modern days Krishna is mesmerizing element of this wholesome entertainer.

This is a remake of Hindi film ‘O My God’ (that was origin of Man who Sued God and Marathi Play Kanji Vs Kanji) – a richly made and loudly told subject that absolutely is right for the present generation. This is a film that makes the people to think and educate them. Without meaning nothing should be done is the public reach from this film. Even when you tell the hymns – the person performing it is entitled to know. There are many angles that are fittingly told and at the same time the relevance of god is also not pooh-poohed. Alerting the general public and keeping up the tradition of any religion the film ‘Mukunda Murari’ is definitely eye opener.

The film reaches heaps and bounds of prominence because of presence of Upendra and Sudeep. The screenplay of director Nandakishor is altered compared to the original. Yet the essence of the film is far reaching.

Mukunda hates God and his wife Sukanya is opposite. For every mistake of Mukunda, Sukanya takes ‘Vrath’ so that her husband is not affected in any way. When the shop of Mukunda becomes victim of earth quake, the middle class Mukunda urge the Insurance department to fill his losses. On the reason of ‘Act of God’ Mukunda is pitiable condition. He seeks the support of Khan a veteran lawyer and filed a case against ‘God’.

Who is God now? According to Mukunda, the religions heads of temples, mosque and Church are the ones who come under ‘Act of God’. Mukunda take the case fearlessly taking all against him. At this position his wife and child leave the house. The God now occupies this house of Mukunda. It is Sri Krishna as Murari comes to the house of Mukunda. In the process of his argument and counter argument the film reaches higher level. Finally he keep in mind the contents of the Bhagavad Geetha, the Quaran and the Bible – Mukunda argues in the court hall. For his popularity he faces a fierce attack and posted to ICU for treatment.

In a month long in coma Mukunda now gets the magical support of Murari. He realizes what is happening in his name. He is projected as God and the same miscreants in the name of God are fearless again. What finally Mukunda does is the end part.

After ‘Buddivantha’ the dialogues of Upendra is good and hard hitting. It does not miss the reality and it is so convincing to the present generation especially. While Upendra is main pinch hitter, Kichcha Sudeep from his mesmerizing looks playing flute, speaking a little conquers millions of hearts.

Avinash has a tough role and he has done wonderfully. Ravishanker has nothing special, Tabla Nani, Prakash Belawadi, Devaraj have given striking performance. The sober and sentiment role of Nikita Tukral is above average.

The music is another plus point of this film. Arjun Janya Govinda Gopala….song and Shanker Mahadeven song ‘Mukunda Murari’….penned by Dr V Nagendra Prasad are sure to be on top of the chart.

Editing is crisp in this 136 minutes ‘Mukunda Murari’. Director Nandakishor is sure to have another big hit in his kitty. The special effects are appealing. The costume for Sudeep especially is excellent.

This is a film you have to watch and there is no reason to miss it.

Score – 4/5 ****
