Director Jayathirtha has not gone overboard in his narration. He has given what is exactly needed but the guessing element he has worked has paid well. It is a Paisa Vasool for the audience. The thrill he has added keeps audience in the edge of their seats.
Vanilla you ask Enilla? It has all the ingredients of a commercial cinema. The grave concern it expresses on the drug mafia changing the path of the youngsters is a worrying issue. The parents should keep an eye on what their children up to till they become responsible. Especially in the college days the parents have to be very careful the film focuses in its attention.
On the other side there is murder mystery. Two murders have taken place in the village Mulkere. In one of the cases the car of protagonist Avinash is traced for investigation. As a matter of fact on that rainy dark night a murder has taken place. Anagha is witness and she is shell shocked. Avinash on the way traces Anagha and saves her. The murder episode is worrying factor but Anaga is missing now as she took a flight to Bogo University in Malaysia to submit her papers on Environmental science. This is what makes Avinash to come to Malaysia.
As the investigation part is going on the additional factor is the drug mafia. Anagha brother Rehaman found the contents of Acetal in ‘Vanilla’ cigarette that is manufactured from Nagpur.
The finding of this drug dangerous to youths in ‘Vanilla’ gives another turn to the film. Finally what happens is interestingly stitched by Jayathirtha.
The debut film for Avinash is a film loaded with lot of activities. He has struggled, looks good, speaks neat Kannada and has less of romantic moods. Swathi Konde is another heroine to watch in the coming days. She is weeping best in the film. Ravishanker Gowda has given a neat performance. Rehaman and Pavana have wafer thin roles.
The background score and songs that come in the film are high in quality and meaning. BJ Bharath has pitched right instruments to his background.
Kiran Hampapura has given a sensible work from his camera. The outdoor locations are a treat to watch from his cinematography.
It is a film that is appealing to the family audience and you take on a strong message in the end.
