The prestigious institution Chitra Samooha that is doing a great job in promoting quality cinemas in Kannada honored the winners at the state, national and international winners on Friday morning in a very close to heart function.

Dr Girish Karnad the Jnanapeeth award winner was the chief guest on this occasion to honor Girish Kasaravalli, Dr Baraguru Ramachandrappa, Umasri, Prakash Rai, Ram Das Naidu, Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar and others.

The secretary of Kannada and culture department Jayaramaraje Urs felt the need of mini theatres to come up and government may think of giving 10 percent subsidy to such mini theatre owners. The need of the hour is also there for coming up with ‘Chalanachitra Neethi’ he pointed.

Dr Baraguru Ramachandra in his four point address disclosed Umasri and Prakash Rai are from the rural background and Kannada based artists. Girish Kasaravalli saying Kancheevaram is a good cinema to receive the national award speaks of his high quality thinking. The audience expects more responsibility from the artists felt Baraguru.

Instead of taking remuneration I have taken a big salary that is the award said Prakash Rai. An actor is not cinema. A director is cinema. Actor is one of the colors the director picks. I see the need of cinema growing as a culture among the people said Rai. The government hand in such culture growing is important he expressed.

The chief guest Girish Karnad felt the need of moral and economic strength to Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy.
