A one-acre retreat near Mysuru blends nature, tradition, vegetarian cuisine and homely hospitality, reflecting Sumalatha’s entrepreneurial vision and her husband’s unwavering support.
Renowned filmmaker Raghav Dwaraki and his wife, Sumalatha, have embarked on a new journey by establishing a unique homestay at Tukadimadana Hundi near Mysuru. A qualified computer engineer, Sumalatha took the initiative to turn her long-cherished dream into reality, with Raghav dedicating the past six months to supporting her vision.
The popular saying, "Behind every successful man, there is a woman," takes an interesting turn in their story, with Raghav standing firmly behind his wife`s entrepreneurial venture.
Spread across one acre of greenery, the homestay features nearly a dozen well-furnished rooms, a dormitory accommodating around 15 people and indoor games. Its focus on reasonably priced accommodation, vegetarian cuisine and traditional delicacies offers guests a comfortable, homely experience.
Nature is a major attraction, with mango and coconut trees and other plants creating a welcoming environment for birds. The calls of peacocks provide a natural morning alarm, adding to the property`s charm.
Reflecting Mysuru`s cultural heritage, guests are welcomed by a statue of Sri Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. "What more could I offer as a tribute to my birthplace?" asks Mysuru-born Raghav Dwaraki.
With nearly three decades of experience in the Kannada, Telugu and Tamil film industries, Raghav is known for his experimental approach to filmmaking. His works include BY 2 (also known as Iruvaru Mattam), Matthe Mungaru, Shambu, Gunna, Ondu Ghanteya Kathe, Oru Thee, Ala Illa and Ela Moves. He has also contributed extensively to television, working with channels such as Udaya, Sun and ETV.
For Sumalatha, the homestay fulfils a cherished dream. For Raghav, it is an opportunity to support his wife`s vision while celebrating Mysuru`s natural beauty, traditional food and cultural heritage.
With Sumalatha`s vision and Raghav`s encouragement, this venture marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the couple, proving that shared dreams and mutual support can open doors to new possibilities.
