TWO HOURS TALE ON SCREEN EXPLAINED IN THREE HOURS! 9 TO 12 SHOOT OVER
Posted date: 19/November/2010

Who is the Hollywood director in Kannada cinema? It is not Dinesh Baboo who directed ‘Hollywood’ Kannada cinema sometime back but it is Ashok Patil a green card holder in United States of America a Kannadiga with precise and compact approach made by Hollywood films could be called as ‘Kannada film industry Hollywood director’.

It is true inch by inch. Ashok Patil saw at the final stage of narrating his subject who is going to yawn or move away. For such scenes also he has put scissors and deleted it. That is an example of working style of Ashok Patil.

Back after Joke Falls and Shaapa both given him an acclaimed position in the industry he is now ready with the ‘9 to 12’ a comic thriller with three main characters – Kishore, BC Patil and Smitha!

Shooting one day in the day light and rest in the night effect with cameraman Niranjan Babu the ace director Ashok Patil says his two and half years script work is now transformed in to a motion picture. I have given the dialogue delivery freedom and that would fetch more natural instinct in the actors he says. He is getting ready his third child ready to make big noise on the silver screen by next January.

Kishore doing the role of taxi driver a middle class youth in this comedy with thrill subject says there is lot of human emotions in this film. Basically the double standard of a person is explained. People would definitely love to watch this film is my opinion says Kishore.

I am recollecting in my mind the days of ‘Nishkarsha’. For the title of it there was some sound. Then the industry did not look at it and welcomed. The shoot was also held in one place by director Sunilkumar Desai. That film won three state awards and seven UDaya TV awards. Like that when the title was kept as ‘9 to 12’ some people raised eyebrows remembered BC Patil who is very much in the comfort zone with a brother like Ashok Patil.

Patil doubted younger Patil when Kishore was selected for the role. Then after sometime he realized that he is very apt. He is Kannada filmdom ‘Nana Patekar’ adjudged Patil. Even though there are no stunts there is no lack of thrill said Patil senior. Unknowingly he explained the thread of the film too. I will be traveling with the person whom I want to catch as a cop. Audience will know it but characters will not be aware Patil pointed. The rehearsal done for this film also helped at the time of shooting. My brother has the ability to take acting from any actor. People would discuss this film and flock the theatre is the confidence of sibling Patil.

Smitha recalled meeting Ashok Patil three times and asking for the full reading of the script. Patil had not much of time but came forward to explain it in fifteen minutes but he took one and half hours. That shows how likes his script. The chronological order of shooting I have not heard. This is what I have seen while shooting for this film stated Smitha. There is comfort and also freedom in the style of Ashok Patil complimented Smitha.
