The grief started in the second week of 2011 January. One of the highly talented cameramen with fantastic knowledge S Ramachandra died on Monday afternoon at a private hospital.
He was around 70 years of age and the lungs severe problems caused him disturbance. From ‘Sankalpa’ in 1972 to ‘Bettada Jeeva’ in 2010 S Ramachandra lived in the cinema focusing his unique strength.
S Ramachandra was assistant cameraman for Sampath Kumar (Dr Vishnuvardhana) film ‘Vamshavriksha’ but his interest and intelligence took him to the heights.
He was part of all top films of Dr Girish Kasaravalli. From Ghata Shraddha till ‘Gulabi Talkies’ S Ramachandra worked in films like Krourya, Mane, Naayi Nerali, Haseena films of Dr Girish Kasaravalli.
S Ramachandra tried his ability in both in art and commercial films but he never believed in this demarcation.
Chomana Dudi, Pallavi, Grahana, Akramana, Kankana, Rushya Shringa, Anveshane, Banker Margayya, Santha Shishunala Sharief, Gandharva Giri, Hombisilu, Bettale Seve, Nya Geddithu, Mudhudidha Tavara Aralithu are other films of Ramachandra ranked well. He was the state award winner for five times. He has worked for Malgudi Days of late Shanker Nag. He was active participant in the cinematographers association.
