The first best film at the 59th National film awards is shared by Coastal Kannada film ‘Byari’ of Beary Community and Marathi film ‘Deool’. Byari is the first film in the Beary language, spoken in coastal Kannada. The film is about how girls in the small Muslim Beary community are mistreated in the name of marriage and divorce.
The awards were announced for 59th National film awards today afternoon at New Delhi by Chair Person Rohini Hattangadi. Vidya Balan bagged the best actress for ‘Dirty Pictures’ and Girish Kulkarni bagged the best actor for his role in ‘Deool’.
The best regional film goes to as everyone expected Dr Girish Kasaravalli’s ‘Koormavathara’ that is produced by Basanthkumar Patil. It is based on the novel of Kum Veerabhadrappa. It is about the government servant who is at the edge of retirement wants to adhere to the principles of father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Basanth Productions previous films with Dr Girish Kasaravalli = Naayi Neralu, Gulabi Talkies and Kanasembo Kudureyaneri have also bagged many awards.
