Posted date: 26 Sat, Sep 2015 – 01:25:01 PM
Here is a grand actor with absolutely fit height, physical strength, looks and tremendous screen presence. We are talking about the gentleman Karthik Jayaram also known as ‘JK’.

The film ‘Chandrika’ a horror filled cinema that reminds ‘Aptha Mithra’. JK in a prominent role of this ‘Chandrika’ is worth watching for the making. The story is age old; the presence of JK is a treat to watch. Srimukhi and Kamana Jethmalani add further glow and anxious moments for the film. The main stay is JK. Director Yogesh in his debut film has struggled hard and made a mass film.

What is ‘Chandrika’ all about? There is a suspense to the developments from reel one. Kamana Jethmalani – Chandrika is upset when JK has left the marriage scene before tying Mangalasutra. Arjun an aristocratic painter now comes to the same house where he left the scene sometime back with Shilpa (Srimukhi) as wife.

This is the house JK bought with due respect to his mentor a great artist that is Dr Girish Karnad. The ghost of ‘Chandrika’ is moving around to take revenge. Strange things in the house make Arjun to bring in a Mantrik!

The same situation is set again. Arjun goes away before tying Mangalasutra to meet his mentor. Sick mentor of Arjun regains his memory. At the same time the ghost Chandrika turns emotional and leaves the scene on the advice of ‘Doddappa’.

The graphics of this film, songs, takings, fear factors, locations are in good standards. The funny thing is Ghost turning like Pandari Bai in the end.

JK has a strong future ahead. He can take on many challenging roles. He is a good player not only on field but also before the camera. Srimukhi is very charming, Kamana Jethmalani is sexy. Dr Karnad is right choice. Uday and Chandrakala as tormentors are convincing.

Gunavanth has to change a bit in scoring so that lyrics reach the ears properly. Rajendra Babu cinematography is above average in this 110 minutes and 24 seconds ‘Chandrika’.

Producer V Asha of Focus On Pictures deserves applaud for a neat and tidy film ‘Chandrika’.
