The most promising art director of Kannada cinema M. Ismail (state award winner for ‘Swastik’ and ‘Sipayi’ Kannada cinema) has recouped from a road accident he met with near Srirangapatna on the way to Mysore to see his accident affected sister. He had severe oozing out of blood and the scooter journey he made all the way from Bangalore to Mysore given him a horrible time in life. That is one and half months ago. Ismail received a call in his house that his sister and her children were serious in a road accident in Mysore. With no means to reach Mysore Ismail kicked his scooter but he did not know that he almost kicked his bucket. On a huge bumper near Srirangapatna he lost control and was severely hit.
Thank god after spending Rs.1.75 lakhs on operations and other things the pride of Kannada cinema art director Ismail survived and he was traced at the ‘Parichaya’ audio release.
It is only my V.Ravichandran sir who made me feel comfortable other wise I would not have come back to this situation he remembers his boss. Meanwhile Ismail stayed for long in the Vikram Hospital Mysore for treatment. For this hospital Dr.Vishnuvardhana is also associated. Has he got some benefit for this? No such support has come says Ismail. Apparently the face of Ismail is twisted from right to left side that needs some more operation.
Ismal started his career as spot boy at the age of 12. It was late Shanker Nag who recognized his sincerity and made him the set assistant. He worked under Sajeth in the art department. His perseverance took him to films of Hindi bigwigs of Man Mohan Desai, Kethan Desai, KC Bokadia, Rajkumar Santoshi. Ismail worked as prominent art director in David Lean’s ‘Passage to India’ and then in Rajanikanth’s ‘Blood Stone’ English film.
From ‘Ksheerasagara’ he became independent art director in Kannada. For V.Ravichandran Empire ‘Sipayi’ he got the state award and then again for ‘Swastik’ Kannada he bagged another state award. He is permanent for Dr.Rajakumar banner and Ishwari Pictures as art director.
