The veteran distributor of over 350 films, 31 Kannada films maker and five dubbed Telugu and Tamil films Alluri Reddamma Raju received the rare recognition for his yeomen service in the field of cinema in the last 50 years. On 4th May AR Raju received the prestigious Phalke Academy Awards in Mumbai.

A.R.Raju started his career in 1958 on one rupee payment as representative of films and rose to become a noted personality in Kannada cinema industry. Slim and trim always A.R.Raju introduced style king Rajanikanth in a color film ‘Sahodarara Savaal’ that also starred Dr.Vishnuvardhana.

With long experience in the industry in various sectors and various awards A.R.Raju has stayed so long on the principles in life and profession. He is in the comfort zone today in his age of 69 years.

‘I want to see the unity in my Kannada industry’ – that is the only dream in my life says A.R.Raju speaking to media persons. He says the theory Koodi Balidare Swarga Sukha’. That is missing in our industry. To become engineer, doctor, architect, chartered accountant etc there is set of education but not for a producer is what irks me he says.

‘The dictation of Hero’ should stop he vouches strongly. Unless he is part and parcel of cinema sit and discuss various modalities industry cannot reach a level.

With such a commotion in the industry I think I am not able to produce films says A.R.Raju.
